With the increasing demand for power supply in computer application systems, UPS power supply is receiving more and more attention from people. So how to use UPS correctly and avoid premature failure of the UPS system.
- The parameters set on the host cannot be changed arbitrarily
Especially battery parameters, they will directly affect the service life of the battery. When the ambient temperature changes, corresponding adjustments should be made to the float charging voltage. Generally, the standard is 25 ℃, and for every 1 ℃ increase or decrease in ambient temperature, an increase of 18mV should be applied to the float voltage. - Prevent UPS power from instantly overloading
When the UPS system is powered on by itself, it is necessary to prevent the UPS power supply from starting with electricity. First, turn off all loads, and then turn on the loads after the UPS power supply system is started. During the instantaneous power supply of the load, there will be an impact on the battery, and at the same time, the multiple load impact currents and the required power supply currents form the instantaneous overload of the UPS power supply. - Maintenance should ensure that the voltage and current comply with regulations
When the float charging operation is still undergoing charging and discharging maintenance, it is necessary to ensure that the voltage and current meet the regulations. Excessive voltage or current may cause thermal runaway of the battery, while insufficient voltage or current may result in battery failure, affecting the battery’s lifespan. - Prohibit long-term operation at full load
When using the UPS power system, it is necessary to prevent the arbitrary increase of high-power of additional equipment and not allow it to operate at full load for a long time. The working nature of the UPS power system determines that it operates in an uninterrupted state, increasing the load and, in severe cases, damaging the transformer. - Prevent high current discharge of batteries
Although it can withstand high current charging, it should be avoided as much as possible in practical operation, otherwise it will cause the battery plates to swell and deform, causing the active materials on the plates to fall off, increasing the internal resistance of the battery, raising the temperature, and in severe cases, leading to a decrease in battery capacity. - Batteries should avoid short circuits or deep discharges
The cycle life of a battery pack is related to the depth of discharge. The deeper the depth, the shorter the cycle life; After capacity testing or discharge maintenance, the discharge capacity can reach 30%~50%. The UPS power system has high intelligence and adopts maintenance free batteries. Although there are many convenient usage methods, it is still necessary to pay attention to them during use in order to ensure safety.
